The Graph Builders Newsletter #28

gm builders 👋

I am Yash, started as a Volunteer Graph Advocate and now working as a Technical Support Engineer at Edge & Node. I’m stepping in to take over The Graph Builders Monthly Newsletter from Marcus.

I'm excited to share new feature updates, product launches, and best tips and tricks I've learned as a support engineer from working alongside builders in the trenches.

Enough about me, now let's dive into April’s developer oriented updates. This past month was all about scale, speed, and smoother dev workflows. From major new chain integrations to powerful Subgraph Explorer upgrades and indexing innovations.

Let’s dive in 👇

🧪 Token API Beta – Now with Historical Data + UniV3

Fast, composable, and AI-accessible.

The Token API Beta 2nd release is here and it’s stacked:

💾 Historical token balances

🪙 Historical token prices

🦄 UniV3 pricing integration

➕ Support for Unichain

🔍 Explorer Upgrade – What’s Most Queried?

Find the top-used subgraphs instantly.

Now in Subgraph Explorer, sort by “Most Queried” to discover high-demand data sources you can build on. Plus: you can now search by contract address to instantly find subgraphs related to specific smart contracts 🔎

🚨 🛠️ Subgraph Studio Updates: Keep It Lean & Live

Heads up: The Support Team noticed an increase in user questions around receiving 429s on Dev Query endpoints (api.studio.thegraph.com). What's up with that?

The dev query endpoint in Subgraph Studio now has a rate limit of 3000 queries/day.

Want to avoid this issue in the future? Publish your subgraph to the network.

Additionally, devs can now only have a maximum of 3 subgraphs in 'Deployed' state in Subgraph Studio. However, users can publish as many subgraphs as they want to production on the network or easily archive unused subgraphs in Studio to free up space for new subgraphs.

⚠️ Substreams Powered Subgraphs (SPS) Support Winding Down

Starting May 31, 2025, users will not be able to publish or query Substreams-powered Subgraphs (SpS) in Subgraph Studio (with the exception of Starknet subgraphs, which will be supported until July 15). Users will be able to use older versions of Graph Node to run SpS locally or query SpS through Indexers that offer this service on The Graph Network. If you currently rely on Substreams-powered Subgraphs, we highly recommend transitioning to Substreams. You can start using Substreams directly or connect with the StreamingFast team in the #substreams Discord channel to discuss alternative sink solutions that meet your needs.

Get started on your Substreams journey by exploring existing Substreams packages and manage your keys via The Graph Market.

🌍 New Chain Integrations (Big Month!)

✅MegaETH testnet

✅Lens Chain

✅Soneium

✅Manta

✅Viction

✅Metis

✅Autonomy Taurus testnet

✅Apechain

✅Hashkey Chain

✅Stellar (with Substreams)

✅Sonic (with indexing rewards)

✅Rootstock (with indexing rewards)

All now live in Subgraph Studio. The network is growing stronger each month 💪

🛰️ Builders Basecamp – Learn, Launch, Earn

Learn smart contracts. Master Subgraphs. Earn NFT rewards. All in one immersive, space-themed journey.

I ran through a few missions myself and it was fun, super hands-on, and a great way to level up fast if you’re building your first subgraph.

About The Graph

The Graph  is the leading indexing and query protocol powering the decentralized internet. Since launching in 2018, it has empowered tens of thousands of developers to effortlessly build  Subgraphs  and leverage  Substreams  across countless blockchains, including Ethereum, Solana, Arbitrum, Optimism, Base, Polygon, Celo, Soneium, and Avalanche. With powerful tools like Substreams and Token API, The Graph delivers high-performance, real-time access to onchain data. From low-latency indexing to rapid token data, it serves as the premier solution for building composable, data drive dapps.
