6,000+ Subgraphs Such as AAVE, Balancer, ENS & SushiSwap Live on Network: Sunrise is Here

The Graph’s Sunrise of Decentralized Data is here, marking both a milestone in data autonomy for anyone building or participating in web3 and a pivotal moment in The Graph’s decentralization journey.

Over 6,000 subgraphs now are live and ready to query on The Graph Network, including notable projects such as AAVE, Art Blocks, Balancer, Snapshot, Decentraland, ENS, Lido, Messari, PancakeSwap, SushiSwap and Quickswap. The Graph ensures unbreakable, incorruptible access to the data web3 relies on.

During the Sunrise of Decentralized Data, the network experienced 11x growth in query volume to 991 million queries over the last thirty days, compared with 89.8m queries over the same period in 2023. Additionally, data service fees for both subgraphs and Substreams surged by 376% year over year over the past thirty day period, demonstrating web3's growing adoption of The Graph's decentralized services.

Empowering Developers with Decentralized Data

In 2018, The Graph initially used a hosted service as a temporary scaffold while architecting a decentralized protocol to serve web3’s data needs. Now, The Graph is kicking off its hosted service “training wheels” and expanding web3’s potential as its decentralized data layer. This empowers all dapps to decentralize their data pipelines by offloading their data needs, such as the cost of running physical infrastructure or overhead in maintaining databases,  to The Graph’s decentralized network.

The Graph is an open, decentralized, network that any builder can immediately use without any sort of permissions. There is now no one company exclusively serving data for an application like we see in web2. We want to see a world where centralized data services are no longer an achilles heel for the decentralized web.

With ultra-fast syncing speeds, reliable uptime, global redundancy, support for over 60 chains, and more, the network’s best-in-class performance is ready for anyone to tap into. Thousands of dapps already rely on the network, successfully serving billions of high-quality queries per quarter.

Tegan Kline, CEO of core dev Edge & Node, commented on this milestone:

“With The Graph's Sunrise of decentralized data upon us, we have removed the 'training wheels,' as Vitalik Buterin described them. The Graph’s Network of data Indexers is now fully decentralized and token-incentivized. There is no longer any reliance on interim crutches or centralized hosting providers. Developers using The Graph can build with full confidence, knowing they are participating in a truly decentralized network. Utilizing decentralized data brings us one step closer to creating the fully trustless and disintermediated world we all envision and are fighting for together.”

What’s Next? Continuing to Build Upon the Decentralized Network

The Sunrise lays the foundation for various new decentralized data services. With a battle-tested decentralized protocol and thousands of subgraphs with pre-indexed and neatly sorted data from every corner of web3, The Graph is the most well-positioned infrastructure to enable decentralized AI. This includes the ability to build AI models on a foundation of decentralized data as was recently laid out in the Semiotic Labs whitepaper, The Graph as decentralized AI Infrastructure.

The Graph revolutionized blockchain data since its inception in 2018 by introducing and standardizing subgraphs as the way web3 accesses data. The transition to a fully decentralized network fulfills the original vision of providing the web3 ecosystem with a reliable, efficient, and secure decentralized data layer.

The Graph's global network of 100+ independent Indexers manages the indexing and querying of subgraphs, democratizing access and ensuring the integrity of blockchain data across the industry. This decentralized system is secured by time-tested protocol economics and is constantly evolving through governance. This model allows web3 developers to build with confidence, knowing they are leveraging a data layer that can scale to meet the growing demands of the industry.

About The Graph

The Graph is the source of data and information for the decentralized internet. As the original decentralized data marketplace that introduced and standardized subgraphs, The Graph has become web3’s method of indexing and accessing blockchain data. Since its launch in 2018, tens of thousands of developers have built subgraphs for dapps across 70+ blockchains - including  Ethereum, Solana, Arbitrum, Optimism, Base, Polygon, Celo, Fantom, Gnosis, and Avalanche.

As demand for data in web3 continues to grow, The Graph enters a New Era with a more expansive vision including new data services and query languages, ensuring the decentralized protocol can serve any use case - now and into the future.
